The Night Skydown Hit National Television

Jimmy Fallon’s “Hashtag the Panda” Skydive Into the Farmstead Corn Maze

In 2016, Idaho made late-night TV history—thanks to a corn maze, a panda suit, and a skydive performed by none other than the Skydive Skydown demo team.

That fall, The Farmstead Corn Maze (now Lowe Family Farmstead) created one of the most iconic designs they’ve ever cut:

a giant portrait of Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show.

It caught national attention so quickly that Fallon featured it on air… and decided to take the moment one step further.

He sent his show’s beloved mascot—Hashtag the Panda—to skydive into the maze.

And who did they trust with the jump?

Skydive Skydown.

A National Spotlight on Idaho Skydiving

When the producers of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon needed a team who could execute a safe, high-precision demonstration jump—one involving a full-body mascot suit, a tight landing area, and a live audience—they went straight to the pros.

Our demo team suited up, geared up, and brought Hashtag to life in the sky.

We flew, jumped, and landed the panda—safely—directly into the Fallon corn maze.

The result?

A perfect landing.

A viral moment.

And national recognition for the legacy of Skydive Skydown.

Jimmy Fallon even thanked our team on his show when the clip aired—solidifying the event as a proud piece of our history.

Pulling Off a Skydive Like This Takes Experience

Jumping into a confined landing zone like a corn maze is not a routine skydive. It requires:

  • Precise canopy control

  • Expert planning

  • Demonstration-rated experience

  • The ability to fly in an unfamiliar and restrictive suit

  • A team capable of coordinating safely with event staff and media crews

Our demo jumpers executed it flawlessly—another example of why Skydive Skydown has long been trusted for major events and media features throughout Idaho and the Northwest.

A Proud Moment in Skydown’s Story

This wasn’t just a jump.

It was a moment where Idaho skydiving, local agriculture, and national entertainment collided into one unforgettable highlight.

For us, it was an honor to represent Idaho on The Tonight Show and to continue building the reputation that Skydown has held for decades:

Trusted. Capable. Media-ready. Able to perform when precision matters.

We still have the original video and Facebook post—a reminder of how far Skydown has reached, and what our team has always been capable of.

As Skydive Skydown continues its new chapter, moments like this reinforce something important:

We’re not just a local dropzone.

We’re a dropzone with history, credibility, and national exposure—one that Idaho has trusted for more than 30 years.

And we’re still delivering.
